about lorraine

Lorraine Daley

I love photography. All kinds. From portraiture, to conceptual, from journalism, to fashion, I pour over every type of photography imaginable.

I also love art, music, dancing, cooking, eating, good conversation, books and movies.

I was born and raised in Philly, but love to travel and do so as often as possible. Italy is my favorite country. New York is my favorite city.

Artists who inspire me: Gustave Klimt, Mark Rothko, Robert Irwin, Caravaggio and Egon Schiele. My favorite photographers are: Misha Gordin, Melvin Sokolsky, James Nachtwey, Sebastio Selgado, Loretta Lux, Robert and Shana Parke Harrison, Gregory Colbert, Gregory Crewdson and Tim Flach.

I am in love with my studio manager/second shooter, Greg. He makes it all worth it. We live in the loft district in center city Philadelphia.

Before being a photographer, I went to 14 years of Catholic School, then the University of Pennsylvania for psychology. I worked as a bartender, in finance and in IT. Then I found my passion.

I have been a professional photographer for 7 years. Commercially, I shot architecture and food, as well as people. A couple years ago, someone asked me to photograph their wedding. I was skeptical at first, but enjoyed it so much, I shot another. At that point I was in love with capturing people in love on one of the most beautiful days of their lives.

I am an active member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA).
